In honor of the “premier officier” Friday, I am showing you one of my first and favorite “Redouxs”
This was a thrift store find. Purchased for a few dollars when we moved into our current home. I knew I wanted to “redoux” furniture, had tried my hand at a few things, and this time, decided to let my creativity take a new level. I did a bunch of different finishes, used Black wax to age it.
Rubbed Gold Paint on the inset, then to really get the old look I wanted.
a friend who owned an Antique store suggested I take a blow torch to it!

It is a tricky thing to do, and I recommend a lot of practice, and appropriate safety gear……
but it does create a really neat effect of making the paint “bubble up”
This chair has proudly sat as sentinel to the backyard for almost 8 years now.Â
Mostly it gets used as a step stool by my daughter as she takes her seat at our built in nook for dinner.Â
Oh well, at least it gets used.Â
Love the new button!
I love the name of your blog! So cute and what a fun little chair. 🙂
Oh, I have a blow torch. Can't wait to try this!
