This Dresser and nightstand (not seen until the end) was a free to me from a good friend. It was her set as a young girl, she held onto it hoping to pass it on to her daughters. She had only boys, and well, boys are not so into French – Princess Style furniture.
(I don’t have pictures dating back that far, but it was very similar to these pieces I have done)
First time around, it was in our guest room and painted bright white (again, not the actual dresser, but this was about the color, this is youngest daughter’s dresser)
2nd time around, it was spray painted Silver for oldest daughter’s room, then slightly distressed. Here it is in the garage, about to get it’s 3rd and Final Redoux (sorry about picture quality, hastily taken with my iphone, I have no patience for those essential “before” pics!
I went a completely different direction this time. Modern Masters Basic Black on the tops. A mixture of French Blue and Antique White for the body and drawers. Then with Emma’s suggestion, a little hint of white in the details, just enough to make it “pop”.
Le Dresser in it’s appropriate outfit now:
Le Nightstand in grown up attire, enfin!
And happily together ever after.
By far, this is “le plus beau” finish, and they won’t be changing outfits again!
Beautiful! I really like the black tops!
Great job. We just sold a chest that had been done three times. First it was a basic pine color. Good finish but it just didn't sell. Next it was a white, same thing, no sell. Then, finally, it was a great grey color and someone took it home to their house yesterday. You can never tell what the customer really wants.
they look fabulous! i love how the black tops tie in with the dark hardware!
I love them! They have a classic look….for some reason they make the think of Audrey Hepburn!
quite sophisticated! love the black tops, too!
Yup, the third time was the charm! Beautiful!
