Le Guest Post – Cassie from Primitive and Proper

Good Time Charlie, Uncategorized

Happy Wednesday friends!  I am taking a little break and my sweet friend Cassie from Primitive and Proper was so gracious to guest post today!  Cassie is one of my favorite bloggers.  She is one of the official DIY gals, and she has tons of creativity and useful tools always shared at her blog.  Without further Adieu…….Here’s Cassie!

Hello Redoux-ers!  I am so excited to be here on Karen’s fabulous blog!  She is my trashiest friend…. and I mean that in the best way possible.  I mean, she finds THE.BEST.TRASH.  I would love to fly across the country so I can surf dumpsters with her… to me, that sounds like a dream!

Anyhow, I am Cassie, and I blog over at Primitive and Proper.  I live a little more out in the country, so there are not too many curbs to pick or dumpsters to dive here, but I am always keeping my eyes peeled. I see deer, cows, sheep, geese, goats, but not too much furniture. But I keep looking anyhow, because you just never know.

On my blog, I share all sorts of furniture makeovers, I share my own home and its ongoing projects, and I host a furniture link party each week. Today I wanted to share an oldie but a goodie with you. I don’t know about you, but the sweet smell of Spring, the chirping birds, and the blossoming trees and bulbs have me seeing happy Spring colors even in my dreams.  So I thought I would share a piece of furniture that is a happy Spring color with you today.

A while back I found this dresser at the Salvation Army and loved the shape!

I had a client looking for a piece like this, so I contacted her and she loved it!  She knew she wanted a bright yellow and told me to choose.  I chose “Yellow Raincoat”.  Another color I liked was called “American Cheese” but the name kinda ruined it for me.  I didn’t want her dresser to make me think of cheese.

I primed it and got to work painting it.  My client wanted the hardware painted as well, so I primed and spray painted that white.  We chose to add glass knobs to the top since the piece was missing some hardware.  Here it is after….

How is that for a happy Spring color!  Doesn’t it make you think of the daffodils, forsythia, and dandelions! (ok, I know those are a weed).

Karen, thank you so much for having me here today to share a piece of sunshine!  Hope you will come and see me at my blog soon!

Thanks so Much Cassie!  That is the perfect color to get me int he mood for Spring!

This is a wonderful example of Cassie’s skills. I love color picked – it is more appropriate than American Cheese would be – I have AM on my entryway walls and it glows! Love the contrasting hardware, too.
