RERUN ALERT!!!Thanks to the Beckie Farrant, the genius behind RoadKill Rescue for the feature today!Â

Bonjour!  Or should I say, Cool….as in this dresser! It went from shocking blah, to an experiment in color gone bad, to sleek and modern…

Here is the original if you missed it:Â

I am in the process of Redouxing oldest daughter’s bedroom.  The walls were ELECTRIC LIME GREEN.  Don’t even get me started on how many coats of Primer it took to cover it.  I thought I kept seeing mint green for days after……

After walls were completely finished, I turned my attention to a “Free To Me” dresser that had been in youngest daughter’s room.  Try as I might, I could not locate a picture of the dresser before it got it’s first (kind of frightening Redoux)
We were going for a very bright look, and well….we got it!Â
The dresser was in fantastic condition and with youngest daughter’s room redone, you can see the furniture for youngest daughter’s makeover here at:
Le Chair  Le Dresser

Back to Mid Century Man.  Here he is stripped and ready for refining:
I stripped the paint off, ground it off where it wouldn’t budge, then sanded him smooth with 220 grit, then hand sand with 320. Â
Did two coats of Zinsser Bulls Eye Primer.
Painted the body of the dresser with Sherwin Williams “Alabaster”, the same color of the walls.  Mr. Red and I sprayed the drawers in Sherwin Williams, “Capri”, which happened to be the exact same color of her new bedspread!Â
By the way, I simmered the handles in hot water all day and the red paint came right off those old handles!  I sprayed and Primed them with  a Basic White.  The top knobs are leftover from another project, sprayed white as well.   I love the updated look it has, and am thrilled Mr. Mid  Century has gone on to live another life in a teen, “tropical theme” hip room. Â
Oh yes, since I had some paint leftover in the sprayer, I sprayed a $3.00 pink lamp for Goodwill in the same “Capri, and made a funky new (schlumpy) shade with some leftover fabric.Â

Let me know what you think!
