Last Thursday night we went to a SF Giant’s Game. So fun, put together by a friend of ours from church. We sat in the nosebleed section, but there were a lot of us there, and we had spirit. (The family missing our oldest, who was worried about being too tired at school the next day, tests, stress and being a high schooler……). And, in case you were wondering, yes, that is a REAL SNUGGY I am wearing. Hard earned and won two years on Giant’s Snuggy Night, (they were giving them away and darn if someone in my family wasn’t going to get one, we have two by the way)
In honor of the Giants, (who by the way beat the Padres), I bring you my latest Redoux.
I did this last week, when Emma and I were working like crazy, and ……. I forgot to take a before picture!!!!
I found this piece at Goodwill. I got it for practically nuthin because it was missing a mirror. I much prefer a nice big chalkboard to a mirror anyhow. I measured out the space where a mirror would have gone and cut a piece of MDF to fit the space. Primed it, then sprayed it out with two heavy coats of Chalkboard paint. Super easy!
I painted the entire piece in CeCe Caldwell’s Simply White. Then I lightly glazed it with a very weak mix of Modern Masters Glaze medium and a few drops of Rusty Black colorant (paint). This produced the Grey look.
Next I added a little more black, and randomly glazed the entire piece, focusing on the corners and detailed areas.
I removed the hooks and spray painted them in what else? Chalk Board Paint. (It is really flat, and adheres great).
I wish I had a space for it here, but it went off to my NEW space at Paris Flea Market today. Can’t wait to get it all set up to show you!
Love the chalkboard solution, Karen! Happy Monday!

Awesome! I prefer a chalkboard to a mirror too. Love the way it turned out!
Karen, that’s a really great piece ! Have never seen anything quite like it. Did not know that chalkboard paint comes in a can ! Please share brand and where you purchased it ! You guys look so COOL there in the stands ! And we’re almost 100 degrees here all week ! WAHHHHH….I WANNA WEAR SWEATSHIRTS AGAIN!!!
Duh. all paint comes in a can. I meant SPRAY paint !
Not sure which I am more envious of, the great redoux, or going to the Giants game! Or maybe it’s the snuggy producing jealousy?

Cute! Very Cute!
I love it, it’s a great piece for an entry. The paint treatment and chalkboard are PERFECTION.
Super cute chalkboard! It will sell quickly! … Looks like you were having a great time at the game!
This piece is quite lovely, Karen. Useful with the chalkboard paint! Lovely family!
I love Giant’s Stadium!! My husband and I met in SF. Love your piece, but really love your snuggie! 🙂
Family fun! Jim and Austin love to go watch the Ducks play and have a blast! (guy time)
I would love to peruse the Paris Flea some day…
Chalkboard any day Karen! C A Y U T E! You always come up with cute stuff. Thanks so much for joining the party:) Enjoy.
I just love this! Great job 🙂
Love this! I’ve been looking for something for my entryway forever and something like this fits the bill! I’m going to keep my eyes peeled, or try and make it!!
I love this piece. I would snatch up something like that in a minute! A lady just started holding a shop/flea market/not quite sure what to call it the last weekend of every month here…she has great prices and fab stuff. She sells things like this and vintage goodies…I was drooling last weekend…but kept my wallet in my purse.
I have yet to go to a Giants game…looks fun. My hubby and son go to the A’s on Sundays so my son can run the bases after the game.
This is sweet! I LOVE it. Looks like you were bundled up for the game, is it cold there?
Too cute Kelly! Thanx for joining THT!
Great piece! Loving the chalkboard!
