Happy Monday friends. The “Bangles” song, “Just another Manic Monday” is going through my head. I hope it isn’t crazy, my kids are on our annual “Fall Break” from school. My oldest just passed her driver’s permit and starts her first lesson Tuesday. I have Paris Flea this weekend and am finishing things up for my space. And……Emma and I (might be mostly Emma) are painting my Living Room walls today! I have a big room when you enter my home, entry, living room, dining room, all wrapped up into one. The dining area and the entry I have how I want (mostly), but the Living Room area has never “come together”. We are painting the walls, wait for it. WHITE! I have never painted a wall white, except for when we moved from our last home for resale value. I am hoping the calm, lack of color will allow me to finally figure out what I want to do with the rest of this space. Pictures coming soon.
Let’s get to my Redoux. I recently answered a Craig’s list ad for this chair. I fell in love with it and I want to reupholster it for my “new” living room. It is in great condition, just needs some updating.
After I had sealed the deal with the chair, the seller told me her room mate had two antique side tables he wanted to sell for $50 together. I went in to take a look, they were in great condition, but I got it down to $40 for both. (including the thick layer of dust and cobwebs on the bottom, housekeeping was clearly not on the agenda for this pair….)
This couldn’t have been an easier Redoux. I used CeCe Caldwell’s Vermont Slate in my sprayer, just thinned it a bit, and they were done in a matter of minutes. A quick sand with a 320 grit to make the surface perfectly smooth, and just a little distressing. I added the white detail with a paint pen, and sprayed and distressed the hardware. Finished both of them off with a good coat of CeCe Caldwell’s all natural Furniture Wax, and a little dark wax mixed in for character. They are buffed and beautiful and will be for sale at Paris Flea Market in Livermore this weekend!
(please don’t notice the weeds…..)
Kind of the “in your face”shot
They look like two distinguished old ladies heading off for a day of shopping. My furniture always takes on personalities. (and even speaks to me……yes, I have been known to have conversations with tables, dressers and buffets. Chairs are mostly silent.)
Now, wish me luck with that Living Room!
Linking these ladies up with these distinguished parties:

Turned out great! Planning to do a large french dining room set this week using my sprayer, wish me luck 😀
I had a conversation with a dresser over the weekend. It’s pouting now.

Lovely tables – you always make stuff look so cute 🙂 And that chair is going to be so fun!
i love them! i opened some black paint this weekend and went a little cray cray with it.
Those little old ladies look like they just got their blue hair done for the week then had a great lunch! They wanted to start up a conversation with the chairs, but someone was siting on their mouth (that’s why they’re so silent)!

Hey! Just found you at Dedicated House. What a great find on the chair! And the tables turned out beautifully – I think I’ll have to invest in a paint sprayer and some good paint. 🙂

I love that chair so much! And those tables are rockin’ my world. I love that colour!
These are just lovely! That color is beautiful!
Pretty and pretty! And I have conversations with furniture all the time. That’s just normal, right?
Wow! These turned out great. I love the color.
You are just uterable talented. You make your furniture refinish look so easy. I love the end tables and wish I lived closer to you. Thank you for listing the products you use. I am anxious to finish my first piece. The sander I was using ran out of sand paper and I havn’t been able to pick up more. I am anxious to see how it turns out, but I am also nervous that I will not like it. Anyway, thank you.
Karen these turned out great! Thanx for sharing at THT!
The tables are perfect, but that chair…I’m in love with it. Cannot wait to see what you do with it! Thank you for sharing this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again on Monday. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
