Did this week just happen?  My kids went back to school. I have a little fantasy every time they go back to school after a break…..you know, where you will have all this time and finally get your to do list tackled?

Well, that happened for not even a whole day.

1st day back, one child came home from school sick.

2nd day back, one child stayed home from school sick.

3rd day back, setting up for paint class tomorrow and pow wow at PFM.  Lots of exciting upcoming classes and a fundraiser! May 4th, details will be coming soon!

4th day back, teaching today!  Meeting tonight.

On the happy side, sick child is all better now.  While she was home, I managed to completely finish the paint job on my office.  Have I mentioned how much I DISLIKE painting walls?  I know, from the girl who will paint furniture all day long.  Walls require too much patience, and require me to actually stick with a project for more than 3 hours at a time.

Enough about moi, let’s talk about you!!  What a great start to 2013.  Here are some highlights.

I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s top ten projects, and this one from Restoration Redoux (don’t you love that name????) is fantastic.  Love the color, love the stained top.

This next project from Simply Vintageous is a real stunner.  The before and then the after.  Wow, what a transformation!

I love when someone completely transforms the look of something.  So much that you would never guess what it looked like before.   The amazingly talented girl at Lake Girl Paints took this old plant stand, added bead board, knocked out the metal thingy at the bottom and painted it to look old.  You have to see the post to see the details, and how she did that pot!

Do you love those oversized clocks you see in the likes of Ballard’s Design Catalog?  I do, but not so much the price.  I love this version far more than the catalog version.  This is from Hymns and Verses.  The clock is made from an old table top. She has a wonderful tutorial on exactly how to make one yourself.  I am so inspired to finally finish my clock project that I have been putting off for over a year now.

Do you follow Turnstyle Vogue?  If not, you really must.  Shari is one of the most talented furniture gals I have seen.  She takes her “Redouxs” to a level of art form that I hope to get to achieve some day.  Seriously, she is that good.  This is one of my favorite pieces.  She named it “Reflection” and it was created for a donation to the American Cancer Society “Relay for Life” auction.

Don’t you love when you see a project that was made from something that started out life as something completely different from where it ended up? (Is this sentence even grammatically correct?)  Lauren from West Furniture Revival did just this.  She took a funky but cool looking headboard she found a thrift store, chopped the legs off, gave it a great finish, added hooks, and now it is a coat rack, hanging in her entry!  LOVE!
