Trashy Tuesday, Decorating with a Dumpster

Le Junque

Welcome to Trashy Tuesday! We are talking trash here of the best kind, and not the kind that is “trashy”.  We are talking Junque, the kind that people put in and around Dumpsters that can be redeemed to live another day.

Before I show all my treasures from this week, I wanted to make a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT.  My newest advertiser,

will be offering a monthly pick of mine.  Just click on over through their ad, it will take you right to my pick of the month, with a HUGE discount code for my favorite this month.  While you are there, check out the endless choices of lamps, chandeliers and lighting they have for every room in your home.  I had so much fun looking through their inventory.

I did put myself on a Dumpster Diving diet.  It lasted all of two weeks.  (That’s a stretch).  Do you know what today is????? The 2nd day of the month.  Do you know what this means?  It means Apartments overfloweth with furniture.  Many people have to move out by the 1st of the month.  This can be one of the best times to do your diving.  I also recommend cruising suburban neighborhoods on the 1st of the month.  Many people are moving out of rental homes and will just put unwanted items on the sidewalk with a “Free” Sign.

This is often the type I think I see first thing in the morning:Garbage 2

If you really want to know more, you can check my Dumpster Diving button on the side bar for my entire series.

Back to my Junque.  I found enough good stuff this week, I could do some lovely redecorating of an outdoor space!

I picked up this Patio Chair, nothing wrong, except maybe a pad clean up.  I think I will paint it white to give it a fresh look.Patio Chair 2

I believe you can never have enough sturdy baskets.  These are in perfect condition. They would be fun used in shelving, painted a bright color. Also, that roll of paper?  I use that all the time to cover floors where I am painting, mirrors when I am painting the frames, etc.Baskets and Paper 2

The base of this outdoor side table is really quite lovely.  The top needs rehabbing.  I may even have to remove it and use it as a template to cut new one, but how perfect is this table to go next to my new Patio Chair!Outdoor table 2

Now I need something to set my drink on.  How about this uber cool Mid Century Coffee Table.  I think it needs a bottom shelf and wheelMid Cen Table 2s.  In true Mid Century form, it is really low.  It is solid, and there is NOTHING wrong with it.  In fact, I had to force a treadmill to get out of the way just to get at it!

Where to keep all my outdoor items?  A Dresser, why not?  I found this cheapo dresser, with ALL OF THE DRAWERS.  This happens, like NEVER! Dresser 2

On another subject, if you are wondering how my stairs are coming along.  Well, they are coming along.  I got paint down yesterday!  I will be updating progress on my FB and Instagram (just signed myself up!) .  I would love for you to follow me on Instagram for all my silly updates.  Who knows, you might catch me inside a Dumpster!

ONE MORE ANNOUNCEMENT!  I just created a new group board on Pinterest.  JUNQUE FINDS.  I am opening it to everyone who would like to pin their fabulous Curbsideshopping-dumpsterdiving-downaditch-rescuedfromthedump goodies.  If you would like to Pin on this board, please leave me a comment letting me know you would like an invite.  Happy Junquing!

I’ll be honest here, dumpster diving is something I’ve never participated in, unless you count the one time recently that my daughter and I had to dig through a dumpster behind a restaurant where she had left her keys. Ugh! But okay, now that I know the secrets, I’m game! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out, and maybe taking some extra drives at the beginning of the month. Woo hoo! 🙂 Will let you know if I come up with anything. Congrats on your new deal with Hermitage Lighting. You go girl! I’ll be checking them out (and your monthly picks) for sure. Have a great evening!

I would love to Pin to your board, what a great idea. The older I’ve gotten, the less I can bring home, just don’t have the strength I used to have. Still love it though!
