Happy Trashy Tuesday! I am so excited to share my finds this week. I had a BANNER of a week with Junque. I almost (well maybe I did) do a little dance when I found this item. It is a jalopy of a Pie Safe, but it is the coolest thing, and I think it is still salvageable. It was in a Dumpster area I haven’t checked before. I felt a little sad, like maybe it has been there for LONG TIME and was just getting worse with each passing month. I think one more rainfall and it would have crumbled apart.
I think I will have to do some major modifications and make it into two pieces. The drawers were all intact, the body of the drawers are metal! I can save the wood panels in the cupboard doors too, just have to pull off all the veneer. Look at all the cool stuff inside!
Check out that hardware!!
It is such a bummer when I drive behind my local Kirklands and they are destroying these huge mirrors and such because they can’t just throw them out if they are cracked (or people like myself will pick them up and I guess this leaves them open to problems, I promise, I don’t cause problems!)
Someone didn’t finish their job, or maybe they took a potty break and thought the frame would be safe. I grabbed it fast! I thought it would make such a cool chalkboard and the frame all painted out. Woowee.
It says $109. I got it for FREE
I found this chair just waiting for me at my first stop this morning. Basically it was saying “Good Morning, nice you stopped by to pick me up, now I don’t have sit here all day feeling so undignified”.
Last but definitely not least. I found this massive pile of books with a giant FREE sign on my way home. They were almost all the same little girl horse book series, but there was a complete Mark Twain in there and some other sort of interesting books. I see some cool book page crafts in my future. Let’s hope my future actually doesn’t get all tangled up with my cosmic Karma of complete backloggedness on EVERYTHING. Oh Summer, you have made me into a Sloth. I.E. Who keeps their car like this. (me)
Hopefully this week will find me working diligently with a master plan of efficiency. I have Paris Flea again in two weeks! Sometimes I think pressure is the best motivator.
Hope your week is totally trashy and full of JUNQUE!
A pie safe…really!!!! I am SO jealous! I gotta tell you that your garage looks just like mine. Bikes, furniture, a mix of all things good. My 3 girls would love to find a score like the books. Funny story, my 11 yr. old boy went junking for the first time with me this year, and on our first stop he found Legos….needless to say he was hooked. :o)
You always have such great junk hauls! I can’t believe the pie safe. How cool is that??
Always fun to see what you haul in….and makes me know that I’m not alone!
Oh how I love your Trashy Tuesday posts! That pie safe is AWESOME!

The luck you have! Wow! The pie safe is so cool!
I can smell the freshly baked apple pie that will reside in that pie safe once you put your magic touch on it!

Wow! I’m impressed.
I can’t get over some of the treasures you’re able to find for FREE Karen! It’s like you’re just a magnet for things like that. I would love to tag along with you one morning and see how the pros do it. 😉 Can’t wait to see what you make of them all, especially that pie safe. Have a great day!

That looks more like a Hoosier cabinet than a pie safe! Great find either way! If it does appear to be a Hoosier, let me know. I have two books to help date it and let you know what it might have looked like…if you’re interested.
Always love to see your finds!
