Trashy Tuesday, Big Dumpster Diving gets Big Junk

Dumpster Diving Diaries, Le Junque

Trashy Tuesday, Big Dumpster Diving gets Big Junk

I had the trashiest week.  It was a blissful week of divine Dumpster Diving.  Like many of my Dumpster Diving days, this particular day definitely had a theme.  Everything was BIG!

To start with I found this BIG ladder.  I mean BIG.  As in it is about 12 feet.  Just sitting there leaning against a Dumpster waiting for me to take it home.  It made it into my minivan, barely!  I was praying I could get the back door shut, but if not,  I would have just driven home with the door up and taken lots of slow back roads….

I really love this chippy, weathered finish.  Need to find a good spot among the junk decor in my back yard for the newest addition.  You can check out my Garden Made of Junk HERE.

I also found this BIG Coffee Table missing what was probably glass in the inserts.  The legs are wobbly, but just need a tighten.  Going to definitely add something interesting where those panels were.  Now I have to figure out what CeCe Caldwell’s Paints to use too.  So many choices!  Suggestions?

Who doesn’t love a good Crib Spring frame!  Apparently, the people at Target did not love this one so much.  It was bent and no good for resale.  There are one million and one ways to repurpose a crib spring.  I always end up selling mine, but I might keep this one.

Don’t worry Suffering Husband, it won’t take up permanent residence on the front door. Maybe.  It could be a cool front door planter!  Besides the Modern Masters Front Door Paint I used on this door is solid and hard to destroy.

Just on my regular mom driving duties, I found this sad but solid sewing machine table. The old sewing machine is still inside too!  Poor thing, it was literally kicked to the curb when I came across it.

One morning on the way to the gym I came across a FREE box.  There were tons of books on wild birds in the box.  Of course not being one to turn away something free, I took them all. This one was especially interesting.

I also found two of these retro looking journals.  They are completely blank!  Too cool to write in so they will just sort of hang on that way for now.

After all this Dumpster Diving, I needed to sit down and rest.  Good thing I found this kind of cool Clubish, Empirish, chair.  The vinyl is cracked, but maybe I can patch it up, and paint it.  Yes, you can paint vinyl with CeCe Caldwell’s paints.  Check out THIS post to see two little Vinyl Poufs I did and THIS post to see two French Vinyl upholstered chairs I did.  And yes, it sticks and stays.

One more BIG thing to share.  I was in Reno, Nevada this weekend and found the COOLEST store. Micano Home and Garden.  Everything is Hand Made, Upcycled and Green.  It was like I died and went to Heaven where all the cool stuff is and the cool people hang out.  Speaking of cool, the owner Sam Sprague is very cool.  He creates much of the art work here, like my BIG sign.

That is REAL chippy, rusty metal.  So hard to find bona fied rusted metal these days……

Stuff is always changing at Micano Home and Garden
and the store is different every time you go.  If you are in my neck of the woods, this place is definitely worth the drive.

And in case you are wondering, I did not have time to check any Dumpsters while I was in Reno, but trust me.  I will be back and looking. I also had a blast doing a CeCe Caldwell’s Paint Demo and getting to know the very creative furniture artists at Shabby Chic Boutique in Sparks, Nevada.

That’s it for this week’s Trashy Tuesday.  Hope you have the trashiest week and you find all kinds of treasures down in the dumps.

Wow! I am a little envious that on my mom duties we take a lot of the same roads and I never find anything! You are the best! My favorites are the crib spring and the ladder! I’d love to see the coffee table painted a cream (or another color) with perhaps some reclaimed wood sanded and stained in the middle…possibly pallets?!?!? Anyway, great junk… Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
