Trashy Tuesday Dumpster Diving Delights
Welcome to Trashy Tuesday! There are lots of Dumpster Diving delights to be found here. I have so much good trash to share with you. Where to begin?
I am a trash magnet. Can I help it if I drive down the street and my eyes immediately zero in on anything Free left by someone who moved, had a garage sale, or just did a deep clean? Sometimes I think people things put FREE stuff out, just for me.
These past few weeks I have been amassing frames. Frames! Large and Small. On a recent shopping expedition in a Dumpster behind a large home decor store that shall remain anonymous, I found all kinds of frames, a candle holder and some misc stuff.
Some of the frames will be turned into nice painted with CeCe Caldwell’s 100% Chalk and Clay Based Frames, some will be cut up and used for trim when I do a new CeCe Caldwell’s retailer training. Which, by the way I have coming up next week with an adorable shop called Jimmy Girl in Santa Rosa, CA.
I found a nice Candle holder on that same shopping expedition. Still deciding which CeCe Caldwell’s Color to paint it. Suggestions?
What are these you might ask? Answer: I have no idea, but thought they might be nice painted and serve as single bud vases.
I also found the most amazing Moldings. BEHIND a Dumpster, right by another favorite retailer of mine, here in my hometown of Brentwood, CA. Big Al’s Heavy Metal Furniture. Al and I actually met several years ago when I would frequent the Dumpster in his mixed use industrial strip. If there was anything too heavy to load in the car, Al would help, or help himself to the good junk before I got there too!
Yesterday was one of those “this was meant for me” moments when Dumpster Diving. At one of my favorite Apartment Dumpster’s, read all about that here in my Dumpster Diving Series. I found this! Hung up on the wall of the Dumpster cage. Just waiting to greet me. Sweet huh?
Sometimes Trashy Tuesday and Dumpster Diving goes in trends. Trending right now? Chairs! Stay tuned, next week I will share all the chairs that have suddenly made their way to my house. Free to me’s, garage sale left overs and just today, left behind after someone moved. Score!
That wraps up this week’s Trashy Tuesday Dumpster Diving Delights. Be sure to check back to see what Junk I get into next week.
You find the best junk! All I seem to be able to find are gross used mattresses and yard waste!
Jennifer! Try this. Visualize what you want to find. Like really think about it. Then start going out at end of month/beginning of month, Saturday afternoon after garage sales, etc. You would be amazed at what you start to hone in on when you really put it in your head that you will find something good.
Ok Creative Visualization…..I’m going to try it this Saturday….I’ll do the garage sales in the morning then I’ll scope the after effects in the afternoon. I will report my findings 🙂

Please do!! Don’t give up if you doesn’t work out the first few times out. It will!!!
Karen, I can’t recall…. what do you do with the things that you re-finesse? Some bloggers say they are taking the item to a booth in a store or to some sort of fair. But you ?
Hi Patty, I used to take them to my space to sell when I had a little rented spot. Now I use them myself, sometimes donate them, or sell them on my neighborhood FB page. (Which has been surprisingly successful!) Thanks for asking 🙂
Thank you, Karen. I’ve got projects but just didn’t know what to do with them. Not sure I want to commit to our local antique mall, but the neighborhood FB page sounds like a good idea. Thanks, bunches !
You are so welcome Patty. I have used Craigs list once or twice, but found the FB sites were better. Good luck 🙂
That molding!!! What a lucky find!! Love seeing what you drag home! XOXO
Thanks Christ! I chopped some of it up today to use for an upcoming CeCe Caldwell’s retailer training. You can show so much fun technique with all that yummy detail.
YOU. are SO. LUCKY.
I want those sticks of crown molding–do you know how much those would’ve cost? O!M!G!

I do!!! Because I NEVER buy it. Too expensive. I feel like I need to hoard the rest of it until I figure out something really amazing to do with it. Downside, it had these huge nail/staples in the back, but they didn’t go through to the front. I paid my 14 year old son to sit there and pull 100’s of nails out of each one today 😉
