Redoux It: Holiday Upcycling with the DIY Paint Sampler Kit
✨ The Joy of Creating During the Holidays
The holidays always bring out my creative side—and they remind me why I love what I do. There’s something so joyful about looking at a pile of old, forgotten things and imagining what they could become.
This season, instead of rushing to buy new décor, I pulled out my stash of thrifted frames, wood blocks, and a slightly questionable papier-mâché Santa boot (we’ve all got one of those, right?). Using the DIY Paint Holiday Sampler Kit, I transformed them into vibrant, meaningful holiday treasures.
Each color—White Swan, Eden, Carnival Red, Petticoat Pink, Walk-On-Water, Little Black Dress, and Golden Ticket—brought these castoffs back to life in the most fun and festive way.
Watch the full video of how I created each project from the Girl on Fire Retreat, using the DIY Paint Holiday Sampler Kit, and how you can give DIY Holiday upcycled gifts this season.
Why I Love Upcycling (and Why You Will Too)
Upcycling isn’t just about saving money or keeping things out of the landfill—it’s about creativity, imagination, and joy.
When I paint, I’m reminded that transformation takes just a little faith and a little color. You don’t need perfect supplies or fancy tools—just a willingness to play. And when you use DIY Paint, the coverage, texture, and pigment do most of the work for you.
Each project becomes a little story: a tired frame reborn in Eden, a block stamped with IOD transfers, a splash of Golden Ticket that catches the light like magic.
So if you’ve got a stash of “someday projects,” pull them out. This is your sign to start. Read more about my junk upcycles HERE.
Creating in Community: The Girl on Fire Retreat
One of the highlights of my year was the Girl on Fire Retreat, a collaboration with Debi Beard of DIY Paint, Dionne Woods of The Turquoise Iris Journal, and BJ Masa of Junk’d Up
It was three days of laughter, dancing, painting, and pure creative energy. Imagine a house full of women from all over the country, brushes in hand, stories on their hearts. We celebrated not just what we made—but what we discovered about ourselves through making.
That’s what I call being Funspired—the moment when creativity and friendship ignite something inside you that keeps glowing long after the paint dries.

The Best Gift You Can Give (or Get)
If you’re looking for a meaningful holiday gift, the DIY Paint Holiday Sampler Kit is it.
It’s perfect for:
Your creative best friend
Your mom, who loves projects but never buys for herself
Or… you (yes, you)—because your creativity deserves a treat, too!
Each color is rich, creamy, and highly pigmented. A little goes a long way, and even one small jar can transform multiple pieces. Add an Iron Orchid Designs mold or transfer, and you’ll have a handmade treasure that feels like a gift from the heart.

So before you toss that old frame or tired décor piece, remember my favorite phrase:
Don’t throw it out—Redoux it.
Get Funspired
This holiday, give yourself the gift of creativity. Put on some music, pour a cup of something cozy, and let your imagination lead the way.
Whether you’re creating alone or with friends, it’s not about perfection—it’s about joy, color, and connection.
