Dumpster Bookshelf Turned Rolling Island
I have a Dumpster Bookshelf TURNED ROLLING ISLAND! How is this possible you might be asking? A few power tools, some casters, reclaimed wood, and of course CeCe Caldwell's Paints and their new ALL NATURAL Stain! Update!!! I no longer use CeCe Caldwell's Paints. I found something I love EVEN MORE. I use DIY Paint from Debi's Design Diary. It is also an all natural paint, Clay Based (similar to a Chalk Paint, but the Clay makes the color so much richer and the paint more durable). Made in the US, and I LOVE the Dark and Decrepit Patina for my staining needs. Check it out HERE! This is what I started with. If you follow Trashy Tuesday, then you may have seen this bookshelf I ...
Cheap Bookshelf Makeover
Cheap bookshelf makeovers are on a roll. Cheap bookshelf makeovers are one of my favorite trash to treasure projects. Its a box with some shelves. No character, and can be found for a few dollars. My Blah Bookshelf to Ballards Knockoff and more recently, my Bookshelf makeover with bookpages! Cheap bookshelf makeovers are truly a done in a day project. You just need a little patience and imagination, but the options are endless. Here is what you will need for this makeover: Scrap wood for ...

Dumpster Dive Modern Bookshelf Goes Chip Hip
Dumpster Dive Modern Bookshelf Goes Chip Hip If you follow me around for a week, you will notice a pattern. I dig Dumpsters. And not just the kind of digging as in "I Like". I actually dig in the Dumpster. Check out my Trashy Tuesday series if you want to keep up with the trash! My Modern Bookshelf to Chippy finish is my latest save! I rescued this Modern looking bookshelf (which was covered in what appeared to be a bazillion layers of white latex paint) from just outside a neighborhood dumpster. (Yep, my dumpsters have regions too). Maybe it really is solid wood, but I wasn't about to strip through that many layers of paint. I don't have a month to complete this! I ...

Fake Built In Bookshelf from Closet Organizers
Fake Built In Bookshelf from Closet Organizers After 10 years in my home, I was ready to commit to a grown up living room. No more curbside finds that were basically place holders for decent furniture. No more using my front room as a holding place for completed furniture. For the full experience of how we lived for the past several years, I recommend you check out my Home Video tour. I have always wanted built ins, but not in love with the cost. After wracking my brain and searching the internet for the right size bookshelves that would fit between wall and window (a narrow area), I hit upon the idea of using Closet organizers and painting them out! Fake Built in Bookshelf from ...
Whatever Wednesday, The Dresser and the Drawers Broke Up
Whatever Wednesday, The Dresser and The Drawers Broke Up Have you ever been dumped? Like the dresser that dumped its drawers? Do you ever come across things that look like this? I did, and I often do. Poor Dresser, Drawers dumping them. Here is how the story goes. Dresser meets drawers. Dresser and drawers have a shaky relationship. Relationship ends on a bad note. Eventually, Dresser and Drawers Broke Up. The Drawers broke up because the dresser had put way too many demands on the drawers and the relationship becomes unbalanced. The drawers feel pulled apart. The drawers want a divorce. They want out. The Dresser Dumps the Drawers. In short, the Dresser and ...
How to turn your dresser into a bookshelf
How to turn your dresser into a bookshelf If you ever come across a dresser missing drawers, like this one, don't despair! You can turn it into a bookshelf. I started by taking the top drawer supports out. Sometimes they "pop" right out, sometimes you have to bring in the big guns. Next, I laid the dresser down flat and brought in my reciprocating saw, cut through the wood where it was attached at the front of the dresser. Once I cut through the wood, I had to use a Hammer and Chizle to pop out the rest. Now I was left with this, This is what I took out, the guts: Next, I measured the inside, left side, right side, and bottom, and cut pieces the same dimensions ...
