I have a Dumpster Bookshelf TURNED ROLLING ISLAND! How is this possible you might be asking? A few power tools, some casters, reclaimed wood, and of course CeCe Caldwell's Paints and their new ALL NATURAL Stain! Update!!! I no longer use CeCe Caldwell's Paints. I found something I love EVEN MORE. I use DIY Paint from Debi's Design Diary. It is also an all natural paint, Clay Based (similar to a Chalk Paint, but the Clay makes the color so much richer and the paint more durable). Made in the US, and I LOVE the Dark and Decrepit Patina for my staining needs. Check it out HERE! This is what I started with. If you follow Trashy Tuesday, then you may have seen this bookshelf I ...

Cheap Bookshelf Makeover
Cheap bookshelf makeovers are on a roll. Cheap bookshelf makeovers are one of my favorite trash to treasure projects. Its a box with some shelves. No character, and can be found for a few dollars. Or, maybe even around a dumpster. I recently transformed another one of my junk bookshelves to jewel of a bookcase. Here are some other bookshelf transformations I have shared. My Blah Bookshelf to Ballards Knockoff and more recently, my Bookshelf makeover with bookpages! Cheap bookshelf makeovers are truly a done in a day project. You just need a little patience and imagination, but the options are endless. Here is what you will need for this makeover: Scrap wood for ...
How To Paint a Vinyl Chair With CeCe Caldwell’s Paints
How to Paint a Vinyl Chair with CeCe Caldwell's Paints UPDATE! I no longer use CeCe Caldwell's Paints. I have found the long lost love of my life with DIY Paints by Debi's Design Diary. It is an all natural Clay Based Paint (Like a Chalk paint, but with a predominantly Clay Base). The Clay makes the paint so much richer in depth of color, and more durable because it bonds even stronger to whatever you are painting. DIY Paints is hand crafted in America, with over 130 retailers nationwide and growing. You can find it online HERE or check RETAILER MAP for the retailer closest to you. Yep, I just said PAINT and VINYL and CECE CALDWELL'S PAINTS all in one sentence. (DIY Paints ...

Trashy Tuesday, Tables of the DIY Dumpster Dive
Welcome to Trashy Tuesday! This week definitely had a theme. Here is a hint, they are round, they are square, they are short, they are tall, and this week, I found them all! Tables! And a cabinet with potential, a nice floor lamp (not pictured) plus 6 VERY solid oak chairs that go with the monster table set I found. Just a regular morning of cruising my favorite free trash neighborhoods and Dumpsters. I spied THIS lovely side table. Plus, the huge round top. I was busy scribbling a note on my business card to ask the owner if I could liberate these items from her front door, when she opened the door!! Good thing I always have a little ditty prepared, it goes something like ...
Garage Organized using Junk. Part Deux
Garage Organized using Junk. Is your garage full of junk? Keeping your garage neat and organized is hard! Especially if you a)have children and their equipment b)restore and refurbish furniture c)collect a lot of junk. I am all of the aforementioned. Last year my friend Emma (organizer extraordinaire) came to my rescue and helped me get that unruly space under control. We spent very little money, and used mostly items I had on hand (from all my junk). More or less it has (sort of) stayed this way. But at least a system was created and I had something to build on. Here is Garage 2013. However, like every good organization system, sometimes it will need reworking. Fast forward one ...
Just Add Wheels. Rolling Furniture Part Un
Just Add Wheels. Rolling Furniture Part Un. Adding wheels to furniture is easier than you think! I LOVE furniture that rolls. Partly, because it is easy to move around.....I often change my mind where I want things to live and wheels make it easier for everyone to change places. I have so many things I put on wheels, that I couldn't put them all in post! I love wheels on furniture because it instantly adds a sense of "fun" to the piece. It isn't rooted in place anymore, but can be wheeled around and restyled according to your mood! Here is a sampling of some of my favorite free wheeling pieces. My all time fave. My Countryfried Dresser turned urban chic. I stripped and stained it, ...
Make a Work Bench from Wood Shipping Pallet!
Make a Work Bench from Wood Pallet! If you are new to REDOUX then you should know, I love nothing more than "FREE JUNQUE"! I have an (unhealthy my husband would probably say) obsession with things people throw away. For as long as I can remember, I have loved "making things". And if I make something useful from "junque", well even better! Like this moveable work bench from a shipping crate. Take for instance a collection of Wood Pallets put together with some nails and screws. Something you might use to ship things in. On an early morning trash hunt, I spied this next to my favorite dumpster. You know the one, where the dumpster diving folks hang out. I passed by it ...
Bathroom Vanity Turned Rolling Kitchen Island
Bathroom Vanity Turned Rolling Kitchen Island? I admit, I can be a bit vain from time to time. I am not one to spend too much time in front of the mirror in the getting ready process. Having twins cured me of this to the point where it is a matter of pride on how fast I can do shower, makeup and hair. (It helps when your hair is short). But I do like to dress up once in a while and actually put a little effort into the final result. Speaking of Vanity, Victor Hugo said "Stupidity talks, Vanity acts". I am a big talker, this may not make me the wisest girl around, but I sure worked this Vanity! This Vanity was given to be my dear friends. The Vanity was supposed to be for a ...
Don’t try this at home folks, a Dresser Dump Redoux
Don't try this at home. I should have told myself this before I began this project. Remember THIS? My friend called to tell me it was in the middle of her road, so of course, I couldn't resist the siren song of the dumped furniture!!! It was missing drawers, so immediately I thought it would be an easy fix. Knock out the drawer supports, put a shelf in, maybe do my little casters trick....voila, new dresser! Whoa was I wrong. Rule of furniture Redouxing. The more staples a piece has, the worse it was made. This piece was made of staples. I pulled out hundreds of them, maybe even thousands. The good news is, when I was finished pulling it all apart, I put it back ...
