Black and White Kitchen Makeover Happy Monday! I have been enjoying vacation, and hence, not working much! Back to the grind stone this week. Until then, enjoy this rerun. Happy to say my kitchen still looks "magnifique"! Last weekend, I finally completed the beast that had been on my back for some time now. I painted my cupboards and island several years ago, but like many early projects, with time and improvement of skills, we see where improvements could be made. It was my goal to finish the kitchen this summer, and I almost made it. (My kids are back in school, so summer ended for us). I didn't take too many "befores" because I think I was just anxious to move on with the ...

Bathroom Vanity Turned Rolling Kitchen Island
Bathroom Vanity Turned Rolling Kitchen Island? I admit, I can be a bit vain from time to time. I am not one to spend too much time in front of the mirror in the getting ready process. Having twins cured me of this to the point where it is a matter of pride on how fast I can do shower, makeup and hair. (It helps when your hair is short). But I do like to dress up once in a while and actually put a little effort into the final result. Speaking of Vanity, Victor Hugo said "Stupidity talks, Vanity acts". I am a big talker, this may not make me the wisest girl around, but I sure worked this Vanity! This Vanity was given to be my dear friends. The Vanity was supposed to be for a ...
Dumped Dresser? Don’t be a Stressor
Dumped Dresser - Don't be a Stressor Have you come across a dumped Dresser? One that is missing some or all of its drawers? It can be a chore, to replace all those drawers! Often I will sigh, at the shortsightedness of the guy (or gal) that heave hoed the dresser to its fate, often through a dumpster gate. Not knowing, it could become this! If you have hung out here for a while, you can read on with a smile. I saved one more from the land fill and it gave me a thrill. I found this sad gal one morning while everyone was still snoring. Lonely it sat there, all by itself. It really had no idea it could be turned into a shelf. I am sharing ...
Don’t drop your drawers…into the trash that is, Redoux them!
Don't drop your drawers....into the trash that is, Redoux them! If you are like me, you may have a slight problem with throwing out things that you "think" you will use again in some future project. For many of you, it might be craft items. For me, it is always the same story. Drawers. I LOVE drawers. There are endless things you can do with old drawers. Here is one of my favorite projects. Start with any old drawer. The smaller the better. These are courtesy of Google Images. If it has a big front lip, cut the lip down, or just add little wood knobs for legs, so the drawer will sit evenly on a surface. I left these as is. The drawers came from a Junk find. I don't even ...
Two Wrongs don’t make a Right, But Black and White Chairs Make a Bench!
Two Wrongs don't make a Right, But Black and White Chairs Make a Bench! Welcome to my week of Black and White. Not everything is Black and White in life, in fact, pretty much nothing is that clear cut. However, this past week, I had a ton of Black and White projects. Some for sale at Paris Flea Market and some for clients. Black and White were definitely the theme of the week. We all know the saying. "Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right". Two Chairs and some White (and Black) fabric can make a bench though! A few weeks ago, Emma and I were working and being the wonderful friend she is, Emma showed me a cute project on Pinterest. Someone had made a bench from two chairs. I know we have ...
The Union CeCe, or my interpretation of Jack
Ever since I laid eyes on the le famous Union Jack Dresser by Miss Mustard Seed, I was smitten. Over the years, I have seen amazing interpretations of the Union Jack, everything from extremely crisp and vibrant, to hand painted, and vintage. I finally found the perfect dresser to try my hand at this Icon myself. I wasn't going to just use any paint.....For this long-awaited project, I decided it was thoroughly English in Icon, but completely American in paint and wax. Update! I only use Debi's Design Diary DIY Paint since publishing this post. DIY Paint is 100% Natural, Clay Based, which makes it different from every other chalk paint product. It is perfectly smooth, the colors are ...
Mixology, Two Snooty French Girls, a Dresser, a Nightstand and a big mess before
Mixology, Two Snooty French Girls, a Dresser, a Nightstand and a big mess before Happy Monday friends! It was beautiful here Friday, which was a good thing, because I was running my tail off at a very busy Paris Flea Market sale. I came home that night and went right to work again. I had to have back ups for my my back ups, things were selling so fast! Lucky for me, I had the house to myself so I could paint and make a mess to my heart's content. I had so much fun finishing up these two snooty French Girls. ***************We interrupt this Monday bragging post to bring you breaking news. THIS Dresser, which is my pride and JOY, is being featured at West Furniture Revival today. ...
A study in Desks,
A Study in Desks, I am finding some great deals on desks through Craig's list lately. This one was so particularly adorable. I love the legs, the detail on the feet, and the lovely lines of the drawer fronts. Solid wood, particularly hard to find these days! The previous owner had started a stripping and refinishing project, then it sort of stalled. I love the look of a natural wood top and a lightly painted piece. I used a paint that I mixed from Chalk Paint "Country Grey", and a whole bunch of browns and greys, trying to make it look less beige, and more grey. I was annoyed with myself at first for mixing the paint and not having it come out like I had planned, but decided to ...
Spring Buckets and Gilded Eggs
Spring Buckets and Gilded Eggs I admit it, I am not always the best seasonal decorator, unless you can count seasonal paint colors in cans strewn about my kitchen......This year, I vowed to change that. I had a bunch of pastel colored buckets I had purchased last year from the dollar bins at Target: I didn't like the colors they came in, so I painted them all the same in cream. I also had these cardboard Eggs from Michaels: This confetti/basket grass from Easter last year: I sprayed out the Eggs the same color as the buckets. Then I dry brushed them in Gold. I would recommend Debi's Design Diary Liquid Gold Patina. Filled the buckets almost to the top ...
