Trashy Tuesday Broken Chairs Welcome to Trashy Tuesday and Broken Chairs and Chairs! More broken chairs and chairs you ask? Why yes! The more broken and the more chairs the better. Actually, not better. But when it comes to chairs, I just can't stop myself. Imagine the possibilities that are out there for broken chair parts and just more chairs! I could keep myself blissfully happy making things from broken chairs and repurposing chairs for the next 5 years with all the chair parts and chairs I currently have in my stash. This was a great link and round up I found at Country Living of what other creative Bloggers have done with Broken Chair Parts. You might recall the ...
Upcycled Furniture
Trashy Tuesday Free Upcycles
Trashy Tuesday Free Upcycles Welcome to Trashy Tuesday. Today's post is HOT. And not just because it is hot where I live and probably hot where you live too. But HOT as in I got some HOT stuff this week and if I bring anything else home before upcycling it into something useful, I will be in HOT water with Suffering Husband. I found this broken record player stand some weeks ago. It has been nicely holding up all the other junk I seem to drag home periodically. Last week I posted the Free Dresser Makeover and it looks SO lovely in our Master Bedroom that I thought I should keep going and finish what I started. This has been Suffering Husband's Dresser for many years now. It ...
How to Use Stain over Paint Trashy Tuesday
How to Use Stain over Paint Trashy Tuesday It's Trashy Tuesday! And it's a two-for. Not only do you get to see what I found for free, but you see the makeover! Oops, I did it again....I went Dumpster Diving and curbside shopping. I have a FIRM belief that if you need something, a piece of furniture, etc.....think about it every time you go out "hunting". It won't be long before it will show up. Like this Dresser did! We were in need of a nightstand upgrade for Suffering Husband. Me, not wanting to buy a NEWISH piece of furniture knew I would find something suitable for free. Sure enough, this broken chest of drawers materialized one morning. It had some rough ...
Trashy Tuesday Dumpster Diving Delights
Trashy Tuesday Dumpster Diving Delights Welcome to Trashy Tuesday! There are lots of Dumpster Diving delights to be found here. I have so much good trash to share with you. Where to begin? I am a trash magnet. Can I help it if I drive down the street and my eyes immediately zero in on anything Free left by someone who moved, had a garage sale, or just did a deep clean? Sometimes I think people things put FREE stuff out, just for me. These past few weeks I have been amassing frames. Frames! Large and Small. On a recent shopping expedition in a Dumpster behind a large home decor store that shall remain anonymous, I found all kinds of frames, a candle holder and some misc ...

Dumpster Makeover Ficus Tree Trashy Tuesday
Dumpster Makeover Ficus Tree Trashy Tuesday You might be asking yourself right now. Ficus Tree? Really? Like those big fake things in a basket that every model home and new apartment, and maybe even (you) had in a corner of your front room? Yep, that very same Faux Ficus Tree that probably still graces the floors in 10 out of 12 Doctor's waiting rooms. The Dumpster's are hot with them right now. This Ficus Tree in particular was in good shape, but the basket (bottom part) was falling apart. I am sure the owner could just not see the Future that the Faux Ficus was fixated on. Lucky for me, I saw a mystical, etherial, metallic and gorgeous vision. To make over this Faux ...
Amazing Things You Can Find in a Dumpster
Amazing things you can find in a Dumpster.... In honor of Earth Day, I thought I would share with you my favorite Dumpster Finds! Over the years, I have perfected (ahem, whatever) the art of Dumpster Diving for furniture that can be "redone". Everyone's definition of what is salvageable is different. Mine, for the most part: Does it smell so bad that I can't go near it? Does it fall apart when I pick it up? Does it have bugs? HINT: NEVER take home anything with live bugs on it! If my junk has a trace of anything salvageable, then often it ends up in the back of my minivan. Here is a round up of some of my MOST favorite and rewarding Dumpster Makeovers. I have found ...
Trashy Tuesday Tables and Curbside Shopping
Trashy Tuesday Tables and Curbside Shopping Welcome to Trashy Tuesday. Nothing but Trash talk goes on here. The best kind of trash talk, the kind you would use during Dumpster Diving, Curbside Shopping and anything trashy that involves dumped furniture. Let's start with the best first. My friend texted me recently to let me know the piece in the above picture was next door to her home, outside on the sidewalk, with a FREE sign on it. Isn't it the coolest looking thing? I have never seen anything like it. Solid Wood, Dovetail construction Drawers. If you know anything about this piece, please let me know! Looks like this week turned up to have a bit of a theme. Tables! I ...
Trashy Tuesday Take a Chair
Trashy Tuesday Take a Chair Gather round for Trashy Tuesday! The trashiest place around where we discuss nothing but junk, Dumpster Diving, Curbside Shopping and just plain trash talk. It's been a while since I have rounded up some junk. Now that my garage is cleaned up, side yard purged of all my "cr*P". It's time to go shopping, aka Dumpster Diving again. 1st up, this broken chair. I had the most difficult time getting it to sit up straight. I am unsure of what I will do to fix that caning. I might just try covering the whole thing with fabric. It's being difficult. I think I will have to cut some of the caning away to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. ...

All I want for Christmas is a new TV Cabinet
All I want for Christmas is a new TV Cabinet Well, not ALL I want. And really, I didn't want a new TV Cabinet. I wanted one I could makeover. Preferably, FREE. I got my wish! A sweet friend cleaned out their garage a few weeks back and passed this perfectly lovely, but old cabinet on to me. We are in the middle of making over our bonus room. And I mean MAKING OVER. The Carpet, the walls, the furniture. It is all getting a reboot. This was the last piece of junk that held up the TV for the last 10 plus years. Since this is the room where my kids hang out with friends and for better or worse, watch TV and play some video games, we needed a decent place to ...
