Happy Wednesday friends! I am a painting, sanding, sewing, glueing machine. We have Paris Flea Market in Livermore this weekend!!! Thursday to Sunday, I will be there Friday morning. I hope you will stop by to say hi, or stop by during the sale to see all of the fabulousness!
Each week I bring you a lot of trash on Trashy Tuesday. Have you wondered what happened to the “afters”? Some of the makeovers I have shared with you. Some just don’t seem postworthy. Today, they are getting their15 minutes of fame. This desk is at the top of my list of favorite makeovers.
Do you remember this desk I found next to an Apartment Dumpster, like 9 months ago? It took that long for me to make it over, but it was worth the wait.
Emma did the finish, Walnut Stain for the top, CeCe Caldwell’s Vintage White for the body. I did the finishing touches.
If you have been here a while, do you remember that day I got a TON of free stuff from a ranch nearby? I had gone to look at some doors, they were too big. When the owners learned how much I loved Junque, they uncovered a MOUND of junque. Most of it has been used up, but this was a straggler:
The shelf got a gorgeous coat of CeCe Caldwell’s Santa Fe Turquoise. The Chalkboard with it was a Free to Me, painted in CeCe’s Santa Fe Turqouise, Emerald Isle and Blue Montana Sky. They play nicely together. (It was a mirror, we made it a chalkboard)
I never shared this table because I was in a tremendous hurry, and well, sometimes stuff gets missed like that! I found this Pine Table at my favorite Apartments. This was next to the COMPACTOR and it was ready to be eaten alive. I was so lucky to save it before it was consumed by the smasher of all potential junque! Really, it was just fine, it needed some major sanding, (Thank you EMMA, and a priming to fill in all the weird wood)
Once it was all cleaned up, I was able to paint the entire piece in about 20 minutes. 20 Minutes! That is how easy CeCe Caldwell’s paints are to use. Normally, there would have been no need to prime the top, but it was in poor condition, and needed some stain blocker too. I painted the legs in Vermont Slate, the top in a mix of Dover White and Vermont Slate, and Memphis Blue. (Hard to tell, but it had a very subtle blue tint to it). I added a layer of leftover glaze I had on hand.
How do I look from the front?……
How do I look from the side?…..
And look what I have on that you couldn’t see in the other pictures, a lovely Graphic from The Graphics Fairy!
That wraps up this edition of “Where are they Now, the Stars of the Dumpster”.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for Le #98 Link Party and fabulous features!!!!

Great makeovers. You have the touch, that is for sure.
WoW Karen~that shelf is really talkin’ to moi!
I can just sEE re-building it in a much larger scale, and using it in a kitchen in lieu of upper wall cabinets for a country/Euro-look!

Awwww Karen, thanks for letting those pieces have their 15 minutes of fame. Great job on them. Good luck this weekend!
Tami@ Curb Alert!
Ah yes, a savior of discarded furniture. Love how they turned out. Sorry I won’t be able to make it to PFM. I do look forward to seeing you in May.
All stars, the desk wins the Oscar 🙂
The all turned out so beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing — I especially love that desk/vanity piece. I’ve been toying with doing a similar treatment to a pedestal table we have here … it’s old and sad and in need of some love!
🙂 Linda
Nice work. That before would have been hard to see past..but your YOU you can do that!
Love the table, however you said you used leftover glaze on the top. Do you have to wax it first before you use glaze? I was told you had to seal this paint first before you could do any glaze or stain on top of it. Thank you, love your blogs!
