Trashy Tuesday, Chaise Lounge and Getting Comfy
Welcome to this week’s Trashy Tuesday! There is always something trashy going on around here, I can’t help myself if I come across something junky that can be saved. If you are new here, Trashy Tuesday is a weekly series where I share all Dumpster Diving, Curbside Shopping finds.
Here I was, minding my own business, driving home from the gym and I drove past THIS! Wouldn’t you stop too? Even to look at what they left out on the curb? Holy Cow! I couldn’t believe I was the only one stopped to (scrounge) through the stuff. I guess not everyone shares my passions….
Out of the mess I found this Coffee Table. It needs new hinges, or I thought I would use the top for a big sign or something and make a new top for it. Plus, I am going to lose those legs and add big chunky casters. Nice huh?
Now….for the best part. My parents had a Chaise lounge in their master bedroom while I was growing up. It was one of my favorite places to hang out. (they probably didn’t share my love of me hanging out in their bedroom). My whole adult life, I have wanted a Chaise of my own, but have never quite forked out the money to have one in my master bedroom. Never mind, I found one for free, and managed to fit it into my office! (The shape wasn’t quite right for my bedroom)
I did a major smell test and bug inspection before I threw that thing in my car. I was alone all last week, you can read about my Home DIY Challenge HERE, and the follow up will be tomorrow. Back to the Chaise lounge, I managed to get it out of my van and all through the house. These two legs had to come off in order to get it through the office doorway.
The last time I tried this trick with a Free to Me couch it got stuck. This is what happened. Climbing over the couch all day to get in and out of my office.
I wish I could tell you I whipped out my staple gun and already reupholsterd the chaise lounge, but I did the next best thing. I threw a Drop cloth over it and propped a pillow on it. My dog loves it.
No more trash picking for me this week, I will be in Atlanta at the America’s Mart helping with the CeCe Caldwell’s booth! Check out the “Made In America” section, we will be there!
In the meantime, Happy Trashy Tuesday.
Once again; lucky enough to find some neat junk; I mean treasures.
Beautiful dog but I think he/she has taken over your Chaise lounge and has found a new place to take his/her naps on. :}
She takes over everything! I do love that Chaise lounge. Mostly she is on it when I am in my office working.
I would have stopped for sure too.
You never know what lovelies you can find.
Just this week I picked up a bench and 3 chairs on the corner of an office complex.
I passed on the glass table, but someone else loved it as it was gone when I drove by again.
Don’t quite have the time yet, but I know what I’ll be doing with my treasures.
Wow Renae, you got a lot of good stuff! Congrats!
I can’t believe not everyone shares your passion! Oh well, more junk for you – and your dog!
Kelly
LOl! Yes, my dog seems to enjoy giving all the junk I bring home the smell over. Good thing I am the only really trashy person around my parts.
oh, yeahhhh, I would have stopped, too ! Looks like some other good stuff though down at the other end — any good stuff you didn’t take ? Well, duh…if it was good you would have! Love the legs! I picked up a nasty upholstered old chair specifically for those big chunky carved feet!
Oh how cool is that piece—I want it!
That’s a GREAT candidate for reupholstery!
Catherine
I totally would have stopped at that pile! Great stuff as always!
Thanks Jill! I just can’t help myself!
Love your work Karen! You never fail to impress. Xx
Thank you so much Karen! That is a very sweet compliment. -K
You find the COOLEST STUFF! I find gar-bahje.
Maybe you need to come check out the California trash. We are trashier here.
I was wondering why you don’t paint on some of the furniture’s fabric that needs to be redone? I know you can do it with annie sloan…does cc’s paint work the same way?
Hi Val, you can definitely paint on fabric with CeCe Caldwell’s paints. If you look on Pinterest, you can find a lot of examples. Because there is no acrylic, latex or chemicals in CeCe Caldwell’s paints, it is the perfect medium to paint fabrics.
