Trashy Tuesday I went Junking In Atlanta
Hey y’all!! I was in Atlanta last week for the America’s Mart, which might I add was THE BEST PLACE to see gorgeous home decor and furniture. I was not there to go junking in Atlanta! I will be sharing more about my trip and my time at the CeCe Caldwell’s booth later, it was SO FUN!
I was a good girl this week and really just minding my own business, meaning I didn’t want for business going on in my garage, the business of junk that is. It is full!! No Dumpster Diving for me.
On Friday (in Atlanta), when my friends from CeCe Caldwell’s and I returned to our lodgings, there in the parking garage was a WHOLE BUNCH OF JUNK!!! We didn’t need to actually go junking in Atlanta, the junk came to us. We stayed at a condo where only some of the places were sold and inhabited. It was an upscale environment, and I guess people can afford to leave behind what they don’t feel like taking with them.
This stuff was good! I couldn’t pack it in my luggage. Darn! But the CeCe Caldwell’s booth was still open for a very busy Sunday at the Mart. We discovered that painting real furniture instead of small demos was much more exciting for people to stop in and see how easy the paint is to use. All this free furniture was loaded up and off it went to the Mart for painting demos for Sunday!
Speaking of junking in Atlanta and painting. Our booth was right across the way from the cutest girl, Tonya from Spent Rounds Designs, a company that uses the metal parts of spent shell casings to make jewelry. Tonya had two bar stools found in an abandoned bar that were just sitting in her space. After watching us demo for a bit, Tonya asked what could be done with her bar stools. I offered to paint them! I love how free furniture follows me wherever I go. Most people were at the America’s Mart shopping for new home decor to sell in their stores. Little did I know, I was Junking in Atlanta!
Back to that pile of free stuff we found in the garage…I did manage to nab this barely used, and VERY clean BBQ accessory kit for Suffering Husband.
I always think of my family when I travel and what free junk I can bring home to them. Much more thoughtful than touristy magnets.
Even though I stayed away from Dumpsters when I was home, I did find a couple of other goodies. Last week I noticed a large UHaul truck pulling out of my neighborhood early in the morning. I knew it was a move out and hoped there might be some curb side shopping left for me. I found the house, there wasn’t much, but I did manage to salvage the tools they deemed useless. Hey, a hammer is a hammer and that rake head will make a great coat/jewelery hanger!
Did you find anything good in the Dumpster Diving this week, have you been junking in Atlanta? Any good junking news? Hope you have a totally trashy week.
I absolutely love old garden tools. That rake head can also be used to hold your wine glasses. :} Or belts, ties or scarfs garden / shop tools; in the kitchen to hand some of your utensils, coffee cups or hang in your entry to hang your purse and keys on. Or better yet, use the rake head to hang up them BBQ tools :}
Enjoy your day and can’t wait to see what you come up with next. :}
Sorry I missed you when you were in Atlanta. You could have had so much fun in my attic!
LOL! Sorry I missed you too Lamar!
Thank you so much Colleen. I looked on Pinterest for some ideas and I love the jewelry hanger idea!!
Looks like great fun, maybe I can go next year!
It was so much fun! I hope to do a post on just the America’s mart soon. It was amazing!
Great finds! I lived just outside of Atlanta for a while ages ago- love it there!
This past week was great for me with things just falling into my lap, so to speak. My daughter takes tennis lessons, and both mornings when we left the house, I saw gorgeous items on the curb on my street(that never happens around me, and it was different houses)! I immediately texted my husband(who works from home) to go acquire said items for me. I think the neighbors are on to us.
One of them was this awesome ornate wooden carved chair with cushions- this thing is the size of a good living room chair. The other was this super detailed hexagon shaped table- even has the detailing on the top. So excited to find both of them- and I love that my husband plays along.
Angie, I am so behind on my comments, but I love this story!! How fun to find two gorgeous items in one week! Having a husband who plays along makes a big difference if you want to be dragging home junk! How fun you lived outside Atlanta, I can’t wait to go back, it was beautiful there!
