Trashy Tuesday Repurposed Drawers in Somerset Home
Hey Redouxers! I have THREE projects that were featured in the Fall issue of Somerset Home Magazine! And guess what!? I forgot they were going to use them…..
So ME! I received a “complimentary” copy in the mail a few weeks ago, and it just so happened I was on my way to Reno, Nevada with Suffering Husband for the weekend for a combo work/play weekend. I thought, PERFECT, I will take this FREE magazine with me and read on the way. There I was in the car, looking at all the beautiful pictures and lamenting a bit that my projects didn’t make it into the magazine….again…..then I turned the page, and THERE I WAS, with all my projects!
Well, at least three of my projects. Not me per se, but it was an extension of me.
And the best part, all three of those projects were upcycled drawer projects of things I found for free. As in a Dumpster.
First up, a drawer leftover from a sad vanity that was going no where in life and reached the end of its usefulness. You can read all about this post HERE. I painted the drawer in a Chalk Paint. I would recommend using Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint in Marquee and Old ’57 if I were to do this project again. Next I added a cute vintage glass knob and suddenly it was not a drawer, it was a Caddie with cute Mason Jars in it!
I found this old Pie Safe about two years ago.
It was beyond life support, but I loved the Metal drawers so I saved them. My friend Emma who was working with me at the time had the brilliant idea to repurpose them as planters. We painted them in Vintage White, Turquoise and Coral Chalk Paint. I still have one of them on my porch and happy to say I haven’t killed the Geraniums that continue to grow in it.
Last up, the best thing that happened to my downstairs. Besides these FREE Mid Century Modern Chairs and this FREE Mid Century Modern Credenza (check those links, you won’t believe what I can find in a Dumpster). This Printer’s drawer turned shoe organizer.
If you have kids, then you know this story, shoes collect all over the entrance to your house, and never quite make it back to the owner’s closet. I realized I had a great spot for those shoes, right under my Bench Made Entirely out of Junk! I added wheels to the drawer, painted it in a Red Chalk Paint and decoupaged newspapers to the bottom. Plus, I added those huge oversized knobs from Hobby Lobby.
The drawer is huge and slides right under the bench. We have enough shoes and flip flops (a LOT of flip flops) in there to keep several family’s worth of feet protected. BTW, we go Hawaiian style here and just grab whoever’s flip flops are in there that fit. If you are missing the Gray Old Navy flip flops, I may or may not be wearing them…….
There are so many GORGEOUS projects in the Fall issue of Somerset home, and so many of them are upcycled creations. I hope you will take a look at your drawers that no longer belong anywhere and think outside the box, or drawer of how you can repurpose them and let them go onto live another life.
I used to have a BIO-DISC 1 but broken into 4 pieecs, please advise how should I repair for reuse. Now I am borrowing from a friend who has BIO-DISC 2. For my own curiosity, comparing BIO-DISC 1 and 2, it seems that 1 works much stronger in terms of energy frequency level as to compare with 2. Using 2, I don’t find much energy from it. I want to know why???? Your favourable relpy is always highly appreciated.
Support the kidneys until they have healed and can work properly.
My debut was in Greased Lightning, which was partly filmed in Athens.
The group performed before a total of 20,000 fans in two shows at the Memorial Coliseum there.
